Functions: Mode: Multisport | GPS | Optical heart rate sensor | Direction route | water Resistant to 50 m | Musical plays, wrists
Now consider the 3 Spark, if you don’t need all the extra features for running or huge run time that you get with Forerunner 935, then you should consider this gadget. Especially if you are a beginner in running and don’t want to Rob a Bank to buy watches that will track your workouts.
It contains the usual performance (distance, speed, time), its optical heart rate monitor passed the tests, showing good results and it connects to almost every running application. It can also store MP3 files it will playback through a pair of wireless headphones that will help separate it from Garmin, Polar, and Suunto. Don’t underestimate the sensation of running without your phone.
The new version also has a function of Route Exploration, which allows you to upload GPX routes (which you can quickly do in Strava or Map My Run) and follow it with a clock. This is a great feature and very useful for learning new spaces.
Although it’s not without problems. Pair sometimes is a nightmare. But there are solid stats, with each update constantly improving the app for smartphones, the ideal heart rate sensor, and an extensive list of additional functions for a Spark to earn a place in this list.
Although it is not such a functional gadget like the Garmin Fenix 5 (or even lower), it is a half cheaper and has a better HR monitor on the wrist, which we tried. Therefore, for most runners, TomTom Spark 3 should cover everything needed. If you want full (GPS, heart rate, playing music), you will pay a bit more, but if you are willing to sacrifice some of these features, you can get it for very reasonable money.
